They also make decisions about which typefaces, colors, and artwork to include in their designs. Digital designers, on the other hand, develop interactive digital media, including video, audio, and animation. Graphic designers visually communicate ideas, working with images and text to create designs.

Multimedia designers work in several different industries, including film, television, advertising, and gaming. Art directors determine the visual style of magazines, advertisements, videos, and other media. They create an overall design and manage a team of production artists who create artwork and layouts. Art directors then review and approve designs, which can include illustrations, graphics, charts, and sets. Print products like magazines, books, posters, and banners continue to meet a need in relaying information to the public.

If this sounds a bit intimidating, keep in mind that this is just a broad-stroke overview of four full years of education. The best part of pursuing a BFA is developing a broad base of skills, all of which can be illustrated (pun intended) in portfolio form! This is typically capped with an internship which allows students to try their hand in a professional environment.

With today’s economy ever moving and changing, the demand for highly skilled designers is constant. You may be looking for an online program so that you can continue working while earning your degree. In step with the times, and helpful to get a job in today’s world, WTAMU requires nine hours of computer art classes. For those interested in going above and beyond, the Department of Art, Theatre, and Dance also offers an option to earn a Graphic Design Honors. Students earn Honors by completing an additional English, History, Computer, and Theatre class.

How will you react when a client wants you to direct their web strategy or coordinate their social media campaigns? In this class, we will research and discuss current interactive marketing strategies and venues. You will then translate your research into the development of practical interactive media projects that can expand the depth of your portfolio. The final presentation should reflect your research and include finalized designs that demonstrate your design expertise and ability to strategically plan the development of interactive graphic design.

However, it can be helpful to learn some of the top programming languages as you will likely work with software engineers and other professionals. A Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design is better than a graphic design bootcamp because of the depth of education and the increased number of job opportunities it provides. That being said, if you already have a degree and are looking to upskill and reskill, a graphic design bootcamp will help you develop specific job-ready skills in a short time. This is because the main difference between a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts is that the majority of your courses in a BFA will be in-studio classes focusing on helping you develop as an artist. A BA will give you a more well-rounded education through literature, history, and other humanities courses and, in the end, let you access a wider range of job opportunities. His brothers are celebrated trombonist Robin Eubanks and guitarist Kevin Eubanks, with whom he’ll perform on The Jazz Cruise. Grand Cayman is an enchanting island of long, sandy beaches, translucent water, and spectacular marine life. Museums, galleries and other cultural highlights, such as The Cayman Islands National Museum, Pure Art Gallery, and Heroes Square are all located in George Town as well. Although the lure of soft sand and sparkling water is compelling, there’s plenty to see and do here, from lush botanical gardens to mysterious caves.

Divers will find exciting wrecks to discover, while there’s fascinating history at the stately Pedro St. James Castle and a vibrant art collection at the National Gallery. Several ships have very nice main theaters, but, as our guests know, our music is presented throughout the ship, so the size and number of secondary venues is also important. Daytime music shows may be presented in any of the music venues (Celebrity Theatre, Rendezvous Lounge or Sky Lounge). Special shows may also be seen and heard in The Cosmopolitan Restaurant, the main dining room of the ship, which converts brilliantly into a cabaret-style music venue. Anchored by an amazing main theater (Celebrity Theatre), which seats more than half our guests at one time, those ships have significant additional performance venues (Sky Lounge, Rendezvous Lounge, Foyer, Pool Deck). And, as we saw upon our first inspection of the ships, there is an amazing bonus venue. Duane Eubanks

These benchmarks of excellence were cultivated by Anita E. Berry, founder of The Jazz Cruise, during her participation in cruise line sponsored jazz cruise programs during the 1980’s and 1990’s. When learning that the cruise lines were abandoning these programs, Anita took up the challenge of producing the very first full ship charter dedicated to “straight-ahead” jazz. More than 23 years later, The Jazz Cruise remains the only full ship charter of that theme and is the standard by which all music charters are measured. Currently the Millennium Class ships of Celebrity Cruises provide us with the best opportunity to present our programs.

His mother, Vera Eubanks, was Kenny Barron’s first piano teacher. Duane crossed over to play and record with Alicia Keys, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Wu-Tang Clan, and Kirk Franklin. He has played the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, as well as toured throughout Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. His most recent albums as a bandleader are Things of that Particular Nature and DE3-Live at Maxwell’s, both on Sunnyside. Alonzo Bodden, winner of Last Comic Standing and Jazz Cruises’ Comedian-in-Chief, will perform his hilarious show for an additional two nights of late-night entertainment and laughs.

He began playing trumpet at 11 but didn’t consider music as a career until college. While studying for a business degree at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Duane joined the university’s jazz band. He jumpstarted himself into opportunities to play with jazz luminaries Stanley Turrentine, Shirley Scott, Charles Fambrough and Clark Terry. Duane studied jazz in master classes at Temple University with the legendary Dr. Billy Taylor. He was later tapped by the late pianist Mulgrew Miller to join his ensemble, Wingspan. Acclaimed bassist/bandleader Dave Holland invited Duane to play with his big band on a pair of Grammy® award-winning albums.

In 2008, Washington played with The Blue Note 7, an all-star septet formed in honor of Blue Note Records’ 70th Anniversary. His more than 400 recordings speak to a constant demand for his talents, including performing with longtime colleague Bill Charlap on this cruise. Robin Eubanks is one of the premier jazz trombonists of his generation. Whether performing with his groups, EB3 or Mental Images, or with the critically acclaimed Dave Holland Quintet and Big Band, Robin is an artist whose impact on audiences has proven powerful and lasting. Robin has recorded more than seven albums as a leader featuring his original music. Kevin would go on to work with jazz greats such as Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Sam Rivers, Roy Haynes, Dave Holland, Ron Carter and others.

If it were our choice, every guest would purchase trip insurance. Your investment for the cruise should be protected, so we urge you to purchase trip insurance. Please remember, restrictions do apply, so to secure the broadest coverage be careful to apply for the insurance in a timely manner. With both The Smooth Jazz Cruise ‘25.1 & ‘25.2 sailing several months from now, there will be cancellations creating availability in categories currently marked JOIN WAITLIST. Vacancies are offered exclusively to guests on the WAITLIST in the order of their enrollment. The sooner you join the WAITLIST, the greater your chance of sailing in ’25.

Cruise 101: The Best Time to Book a Cruise

Moreover, the destination you are hoping to sail to will make a difference in what sales you find during these months. If there is a high demand for your specific sailing that has been booked well in advance, it is unlikely that they will offer any jaw-dropping sales a few months prior to departure. With that, though, you are never guaranteed to find the cheapest rates of the year during these months. Sometimes, cruise lines will inflate their prices right before a sale, so 30% off everyone's fare might not be as great of a steal as you think it is. The winter holiday season is always significantly more expensive, she says.

What About Waiting For Sales to Book/Sail?

In other words, if you can sail at the least expensive time, your cruise can be a sharp discount off the peak price. Instead, what will have the biggest impact on what you pay for a cruise is when you sail, not when you book. In our experience, there isn’t much difference in the time of year that you book. For example, the same cruise isn’t automatically cheaper if you buy in January versus if you buy in July. As you can see, the prices for this trip are similar from one year to the next, though there is some variation across weeks.

The biggest cruise rip-offs that you should avoid to save money

But whatever the reason, cruise lines tend to be extremely generous during wave season. It’s not uncommon to see 2-for-1 fares, heavily discounted fares (sometimes as high as 70%), free excursions, cabin upgrades and much more. First, they’re looking to capitalize during cold winter months when more consumers are fantasizing about a tropical, toes-in-the-sand vacation. Second, they know that extended families are far more likely to discuss big trips—like international cruises—over the holiday dinner table versus some random weekend in July.

For many cruise lines that means the flexibility to jump to a better promotion later if one comes available. Savings, sure, but also bonus amenities or whatever else might be valid and on offer with the promotion. Since it is after the holiday season, most people have either finished a holiday vacation and have no intention of booking another one soon.
